Something warming for the soul and tummy!

What to do in the snow?? Well apart from the obvious playing it must be followed by warming, home made and made with love food. So this is what I am doing for tea....

Toad in the Hole

10 lovely, local farm shop sausages (as cheap as supermarket posh ones)
4oz plain flour
2 large eggs
1/2 pint milk
salt and pepper
herbs if you fancy (thyme/rosemary)
Big dash of love (really improves the taste!)

Pre heat the oven at about 200'c and put dash of oil in large baking dish and add sausages. Cook in hot oven for 10 mins. In the meantime...make the batter. Throw flour into large bowl and make well in the middle. Add both eggs and splash of milk. Use a balloon whisk and start to beat. When you have a very thick but smooth paste, start to add the milk gradually while whisking to get a lump free batter. Pull ou the sausages and turn and add the batter to the hot pan. Return to oven and cook for a further 30 mins - or until it looks like you like it!

Serve with your fave things - we will have leek mash and green veg with onion gravy.
